Holiday´s at the lake Achensee – Tyrol´s largest lake
“At Lake Achensee, you’ll find Tyrol at its most beautiful”
For centuries, Lake Achensee has captivated visitors with its clear, emerald-green waters and ideal conditions for water sports. Like a fjord, it lies at the foot of the Karwendel Nature Park, surrounded by majestic mountains, its waters formed from glaciers thousands of years ago. Known as the “Tyrolean Jetstream”, the lake is a paradise for sailors, windsurfers, and kitesurfers. Its waves are crossed by the white fleet of the Achensee shipping company. Directly on the lake, you’ll find a large sunbathing lawn with beach volleyball courts and a swimming area. Water temperatures range between 17 and 24°C, and 99% of the shoreline is publicly accessible.
“When I see this lake, I don’t need the sea…”
The Achensee region has earned the title of “First Vital Region of Tyrol”. You can enjoy vital hiking, running, and cross-country skiing on specially designed routes in all towns around the lake, guided by trained Vital coaches from our holiday region.
The small Achensee, a separate area with a new sunbathing lawn at the northern end of the lake, exceeded our expectations. Its water temperature is consistently 3–5°C warmer than that of the “large Achensee.”
